Scalpels and scalpel surgical blades allow for fine cutting. The #3 blades especially are useful for hobby work. The blades are carbon steel which is typically sharper than stainless steel but are more brittle and dull faster. These are utility blades and are not recommended for exacting biomedical work since the tips may not be as finely sharpened as the rest of the blade.
